I’ve spent the last 4 years designing and making my own pair of custom hearing enhancers, because I think hearing aid design is lazy.
Hearing aids have always been designed to be hidden behind the ear, but that just reinforces the idea that you should try to hide them— that I should be embarrassed to wear them.
Like, why has no one even tried to make them look good?
So I’m making some that are purposely visible.
And that means figuring out how hearing aids work, 3D printing prototypes, testing them out, designing more, testing more, and eventually settling on a design that looks cool.
But now onto the electronics, and this is where it gets though.
I put some hearing aid components together, but I needed better quality, so I asked a hearing aid company to help.
But while they kinda worked, they looked kinda silly, and the company weren’t able to improve them.
So for the last 18 months I’ve been on the hunt for a manufacturer who can really bring these to life.
And I think I’ve finally found them.
