New Electronics Prototypes

I just got the electronics prototypes for the designer hearing devices I’m making

because I don’t like how my hearing aids look .

It’s far from a finished product. But proves that the idea is possible.

So what is the idea?

It’s to imitate how the eyewear industry works where you can choose different styled frames around the same lens.

And yeah, don’t worry, I have filed a patent.

So here, the electronics are the (lens) and they fit inside a frame.

This means we can build different frames around the same lens. And in the future, other brands can too.

I’ve got this placeholder frame in black so I can try them out.

They do improve my hearing, but they definitely need some tweaking to make the sound quality better.

Aaand the cable is also a bit long, but we can just shorten that.

One bit of feedback I got when I was wearing them is that they look kinda like headphones. And this isn’t ideal because I don’t want people thinking that I’m listening to music or something instead of listening to them!

I’m pretty sure it’s because they’re made of glossy black plastic.

So the next step will be focussing on how we can redesign the frames to look less like consumer electronics, and more like an accessory you want to wear all day long.

Stay tuned.
